More than just a store

November 23, 2011

Ron Johnson, the former Apple senior vice president of retail in a blog at Harvard Business Review about the huge success of Apple Store:

But if Apple products were the key to the Stores’ success, how do you explain the fact that people flock to the stores to buy Apple products at full price when Wal-Mart, Best-Buy, and Target carry most of them, often discounted in various ways, and Amazon carries them all — and doesn’t charge sales tax!

That very question must have been asked over and over by Microsoft, and every Apple competitors. But it’s easier to be done than just talk about it, only a company like Apple can do it.

Ron’s blog is truly worth a read, don’t miss his interview as well.
