It gets better and better

November 27, 2011

Brian Chen from NYT’s Bits, had a look at Apple Store’s spot-the-shopper feature and it sounds awesome:

An iPhone owner can use the free Apple Store app to shop before entering the store. When she arrives, the app’s location feature alerts store workers on their iPod touch, and they can find her and bring over her purchases.

iPads are mounted next to products in the store showing information and purchase options. Customers can tap a button on one of these iPads to request employee assistance, and a message appears saying a representative is on the way.

Those little things, that other stores don’t give a damn, are precisely giving customers a sense of comfort which then make more purchases. This is why Microsoft don’t get it, it’s the little things.
