Sharp move

November 27, 2011

Juro Osawa from WSJ Asia Technology is reporting:

Osaka-based Sharp makes liquid crystal displays, which are widely used in tablets, smartphones and flat-screen televisions.

Sharp already supplies LCD panels for Apple’s iPhone smartphones, according to the person. The company will be supplying panels for the next iPhone, which is also expected to launch sometime next year, the person added.

That person is only disclosed as someone who’s familiar with the deal, so this is just a rumor so far. But I wish this is true, so that Apple can finally move on and get done with their complicated relationship with Samsung. Because I get this feeling that Apple has been holding off their new iDevices in fear of Samsung might steal the idea, since Samsung got to know the prototype parts first before they can start making it.
