Accidental success

December 13, 2011

Nicholas Carlson from Business Insider got a tip from a former Twitter employee on the cultural flaws in Twitter, here’s one of them:

Our source speculates that the root of this product problem may be that Twitter was, essentially, an accidental success, and the people in charge of the product now assume their job is to not screw that accidental success up.

This explains a lot why it took so long for Twitter to re-invent themselves, it felt like they were afraid to change anything. And no wonder Twitter had several crucial hiccups on their system back then, but hopefully with new managements in place they can take Twitter on the right track again.
