The forced $7 billion buy

September 3, 2013

Here are some of the wild theories and guesses on today’s biggest story; Microsoft bought Nokia for $7 billion, that I’ve been reading all over the news:

  1. Microsoft wanted Nokia’s patents
  2. Stephen Elop is a favorite candidate as the next Microsoft CEO
  3. Microsoft needed Nokia’s device business

Those are viable reasons, the bullshits Steve Ballmer had to say to Microsoft’s boards to approve the buy. But here’s the main reason: Nokia is switching to Android, and no one will ever use Windows Phone. As simple as that.
