Me too for Samesung

September 17, 2013

Shortly after Apple introduced the 64-bit A7 chip, Samesung’s mobile business chief Shin Jong-kyu told Korea Times his company will do the same:

“Not in the shortest time. But yes, our next smartphones will have 64-bit processing functionality.”

And on Apple’s effort to launch the new iPhones, the 5s and 5c, in China and Japan:

“Samsung understands that Apple intends to boost its mobile business in China, as well as in Japan, meaning that we should try harder in these countries.” Samsung will hold a launch event for its latest Galaxy Note 3 tablet in China.

Right, Shin should have mention that Samesung will also put Touch ID and M7 sensor chip into its Galaxy line-ups, heck he should have copied the iSight camera as well. But he forgot tiny unimportant details:

  • 64-bit in Android? I don’t think so, it’s easy to build a 64-bit chip but for Google to build 64-bit Android and its whole ecosystem (apps) are not. Think of all the Android fragmentation, unless every other Android phone-makers are ready to switch right away, but then who will supply the 64-bit chips for all of them.
  • Fingerprint sensor in Galaxy S or Android? That’s a big no, Apple has bought the company who make it and Apple has, wait for it… patented it!

Samesung, you can always rely on them to follow every Apple’s steps.
