This isn’t the right time to buy a BlackBerry

September 28, 2013

Chris Umiastowski on the BlackBerry Q2 results:

All in all, the Q2 results look very scary because of the sequential revenue decline. Although the sell-through decline isn’t as horrible, it’s still bad, and it has put the company in a very precarious position. They need to swiftly execute the job cuts and decide whether or not they can remain in the smartphone business (actually making phones) or move to just software and services.

About that “actually making phones”, John Paczkowski reported:

BlackBerry’s ongoing collapse is becoming a serious drag on the company’s manufacturing partner Jabil Circuit. So much so that Jabil is considering ending its business relationship with the struggling smartphone pioneer.

Seriously, I rarely throw away a warning like this but right now is a really bad time to buy a BlackBerry.
